The idea for Clockwork Chapel came about one sunny afternoon in 2003 as Phobea and EnEyeKay were chilling out in Phobea's bedroom (now Clockwork Chapel Studios) recording tracks.
Initially it was intended it to be a rap collective, then we brought local singer Jolabee into the equation and we turned into something of a hip-pop outfit. As a trio we had every area covered from design to producing to photography but it became increasingly apparent that we all just really wanted to focus on our solo music.
So, the label was born.
We still record tracks together from time to time, and most of the recording work is done in the same place, it just means that we can be there to support each other without holding each other back at the same time.
Our first release was Phobea's demo LP Biorhythms which was limited to 300 copies and even Phobea himself has trouble getting hold of a copy. We've since grown in size and funding and are putting out serious efforts considering we're just independant musicians from the South coast of England.
At present we aren't looking for any new signees as we have our work cut out handling the 3 we have at the moment, but we are always looking for new producers and musicians to collaborate with. If you are interested please contact us via the contact page.
